About the position

The Senior Application Specialist/Developer is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of various applications within the business domain. This position serves as a subject matter expert, ensuring effective change and configuration management, and supporting the software development lifecycle (SDLC). The role involves collaboration with business stakeholders, internal technology teams, and external vendors to implement and maintain application systems, ensuring they meet business requirements and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the enterprise change management and software development lifecycle (SDLC) process, including testing, defect management, peer review, and release management.
• Participate on cross-functional teams to define business and technical requirements, operational processes, and application strategy.
• Design and administer application software configuration and project/product implementation to meet business process design and application requirements.
• Write and utilize light-weight scripting, software enhancements, reporting, data integration, and file formatting utilities/configurations in support of applications and customer specifications.
• Support corporate compliance, regulatory, and both internal and external audit examinations and reviews.
• Function as Technical Application Owner for multiple applications within the business domain, providing Tier 2 application level support and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• B.S, B.A. in Computer Science or Business preferred.
• 7-10 years of relevant experience with an emphasis on applications implementation, testing, maintenance, configuration, customization, and support.
• Working knowledge and understanding of hardware and systems software technologies, network infrastructure, and integration of diverse technology.
• Experience building complex workflows and business process maps required.
• Advanced level experience in payroll processing systems and ERP platforms, especially Lawson, and ancillary systems such as BSI Tax Factory and Bottomline Transform.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in one or more database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.).
• Familiarity with Java and other development languages and technologies; familiarity with COBOL would be ideal.
• Experience with SQL Server (SSIS, SSMS, SSRS, and SSAS) to support reporting and integration.
• Knowledge of Crystal Reports for additional reporting.
• Experience with Microsoft technologies (SQL, Azure, Office 365, .NET).
• Familiarity with Application Programming Interfaces (API) and microservices technologies.
• Understanding of Representational State Transfer (REST) architecture and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
• Experience with Salesforce, ServiceNow, Mulesoft middleware, and PowerShell or other scripting technologies.
