About the position

The Senior Application Developer at BNY Mellon is a pivotal role within the Enterprise Financial Messaging team, focusing on the development, support, and maintenance of the SWIFT Messaging Infrastructure. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership, as the developer will be responsible for ensuring the application’s functionality, security, and resilience while actively participating in the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Develop, support, and maintain the SWIFT Messaging Infrastructure.
• Provide comprehensive technical support for the application and act as an owner.
• Participate in design, analysis, coding, and successful deployment of the application in production.
• Troubleshoot issues and incidents, proposing effective solutions.
• Improve application resiliency by focusing on monitoring and alerting.
• Secure the application from vulnerabilities.
• Maintain software functionality and currency, addressing technical debt.
• Participate in code reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of experience in systems analysis and program development with supervisory, management, and administrative experience.
• Proficiency in software development, especially Java 11 or higher, SQL, and Unix/Linux scripting.
• Strong experience in SDLC and DevOps processes, including CI/CD tools and Git.
• 7+ years of experience in SWIFT Messaging applications, with hands-on experience on applications like AMH, SAA, SAG, AWP.
• Solid understanding of messaging frameworks like IBM MQ.
• Experience in the banking/financial services industry is a plus.
