About the position

The Senior Application Development Engineer at Centene Corporation is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex enterprise software solutions. This role involves collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure that software meets business requirements and adheres to best practices. The engineer will also prototype software modules, assess architectural impacts, and participate in application support activities, contributing to the overall improvement of health outcomes for Centene's 28 million members.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and implements complex enterprise software solutions.
• Collaborates with data modelers, architects, business analysts, and subject matter experts to provide technical analysis and support.
• Develops or prototypes software modules including service interfaces, process flows, and UI/UX.
• Tests and deploys software solutions while complying with standards and best practices.
• Identifies and formulates architectural impacts and solutions from business requirements.
• Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design.
• Creates conceptual and detailed technical design documents.
• Identifies and resolves problems, anticipating issues before they occur.
• Utilizes and contributes to the development of application coding techniques and standards.
• Participates in tier 3 application support activities including incident management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science).
• 4 - 6 years of related experience or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following: Java, GoLang, MongoDB.
