About the position

The Senior Application Engineer for Electronics Bonding at 3M is responsible for collaborating with global teams to develop and replicate impactful tape applications for the electronics market. This role involves understanding customer needs, providing technical support, and launching new product programs while ensuring compliance with regulations. The position allows for a hybrid work environment, requiring some in-person presence at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with global Application Engineering, Product Development, Sales, and Marketing personnel to develop high-impact tape applications for the Electronics Market.
• Identify the best 3M solution for applications by understanding customer needs, testing, and analyzing results.
• Communicate results to customers and the global application engineering team through written reports and presentations.
• Provide launch support for new product programs by developing predictive test methods and generating supporting documentation, demonstration tools, videos, and training materials.
• Build a deep understanding of customer needs and competition for tapes used in the electronics market, providing performance feedback and new product ideas.
• Diagnose customer application or production issues and help solve them in an expeditious manner.
• Participate in early morning or evening meetings with a global team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
• Three (3) years of experience working with polymers or adhesives in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Current, valid Driver's License.

Nice-to-haves

• PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science from an accredited institution.
• Two years of experience in Application Engineering.
