About the position
The Senior Application Engineer - Model-Based Engineering at Ansys is a pivotal role within the Customer Excellence team, focusing on providing technical pre-sales support and professional services to customers. This position requires a hands-on subject matter expert who will engage with customers to understand their engineering design workflows and translate their requirements into innovative simulation solutions using Ansys software. The role involves collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance product features and contribute to the growth of Ansys' business.
Responsibilities
- Lead in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, including technical discovery and product presentations.
- Interact with customers to understand their product design needs and analyze how to address these using Ansys products.
- Assist in creating differentiating simulation solutions and deploy them within customers' design workflows.
- Develop competence as a subject matter expert and industry expert.
- Collaborate with product development teams to translate customer requirements into new product features.
- Support marketing efforts and author conference presentations.
- Contribute to consulting services and conduct training classes.
Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum years of professional experience: BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+1 in an engineering software environment.
- Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages.
- Knowledge of model-based engineering, design optimization, and automation of engineering simulation workflows.
- Proven expertise with process integration and design optimization tools such as optiSLang, ModelCenter, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Cloud Computing for engineering simulations.
- Understanding of various advanced simulation workflows including structural, thermal, fluid, and electrical simulations.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, R, or VB.
- Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Preferred education: BS+8, MS+6, or PhD+3 in an engineering software environment.
- 2 years of industry experience in application engineering or customer support roles.
- Knowledge of reduced order modeling in engineering analysis and simulation.
- Familiarity with connecting MBSE assets with simulations.
- Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
