About the position

At E Tech Group, we are looking for a Senior Application Engineer with a focus on proposals to join our dynamic team. As one of the largest engineering and system integration firms in the United States, we have been providing value through IT automation and control solutions for over 25 years across various industries, including Life Sciences, Mission Critical, Metals, Material Handling, Consumer Products, and Food & Beverage. Our national scale enables us to assist clients in developing and implementing standardized solutions at any of their facilities, regardless of location or available local resources. In this role, you will be responsible for initial consultations with customers, as well as estimating and developing proposals for industrial automation solutions. This includes projects in the food & beverage, life sciences, and chemical industries, covering a wide range of process control and machine control automation applications. You will also be tasked with owning and developing methods, tools, and processes for estimating and proposal development across the enterprise. Your responsibilities will include meeting with customers to review technical scopes and engineering requirements, collaborating with local Business Development Managers during the sales pursuit process, and preparing work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. You will quote standard Control Panel, PLC, and HMI projects with minimal assistance, only seeking engineering help for niche cases. Additionally, you will identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying relevant documents, compute costs, resolve discrepancies, present prepared estimates, and maintain a cost database. Continuous learning is encouraged, and you will be expected to maintain technical knowledge through educational workshops and technical publications. Your contributions will be vital to the team’s success, and you will be expected to accomplish related results as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with customers to review the technical scope and engineering requirements and work with local E Tech Group Business Development Managers in the sales pursuit process.
  • Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Quote normal Control Panel / PLC / HMI projects without much assistance, calling in engineering help only for niche cases.
  • Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
  • Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain cost database by entering and backing up data.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and educational background.
  • 10+ years of Industrial Automation experience directly related to design, controls, programming, and electrical engineering.
  • Past experience of extensive use of the Company's Methods, Tools, and Process specific to estimating and proposal management standards.
  • Understanding of ERP / Project Costing Systems and parametric estimation tools.
  • Extensive understanding of customer plans, specifications, technical documentation as well as RFQ documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
