About the position

The Senior Application Support Engineer will ensure the operational efficiency, stability, and availability of complex application systems. This role focuses on incident management and DevOps practices, contributing to the delivery of innovative solutions while mentoring less experienced peers. The position requires a strong understanding of application support, particularly in Java, and involves working collaboratively to enhance customer experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with appropriate teams to expedite issue resolution and manage to SLAs.
  • Support and maintain infrastructure and applications utilizing required tools and technologies.
  • Test infrastructure and application changes.
  • Establish priorities for enhancements/modifications.
  • Develop functional specifications for enhancements/modifications.
  • Participate in the application technical design process.
  • Monitor systems and management consoles for service interruptions or delays.
  • Address and resolve all infrastructure system failures.
  • Execute, log and report break/fixes changes, service requests and support activities.
  • Maintain operational procedures, processes and scripts.
  • Provide off-hours support (24 x 7) as required.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Analytical skills and a willingness to ask questions.
  • Ability to work with business users and other technology teams.
  • Accountability for following up on support tickets and emails to resolution.
  • Confidence to challenge developers on Agile best practices.
  • Good time management skills to transition between various support issues.
  • Familiarity with the Agile process and experience as a Scrum master.
  • Ability to define requirements and manage waterfall/agile frameworks.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in incident management processes and tools.
  • Knowledge of continuous delivery practices.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices.
