About the position

The Applications Engineer role within Oracle's Construction and Engineering group focuses on developing high-quality software solutions for project and portfolio management. This position requires collaboration within a cross-functional team to analyze problems, suggest solutions, and implement software using cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, cloud platforms, and a passion for technology trends.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop, troubleshoot, coding, testing and debug software programs using cloud technology.
  • Write design documentation.
  • Act as an individual contributor as well as a team member.
  • Work with little supervision, conferring with superiors on unusual or complex matters.
  • Provide guidance, assistance, and technical leadership to lower-level software Engineers on complex projects.
  • Interact internally/externally to exchange information as needed.
  • Evaluate new technology that could improve products and processes.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, technologies, and cloud native architecture.
  • Experience with docker and container management platforms (ECS, Kubernetes, etc).
  • Proficient in Linux operating system.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in SOAP Services and REST APIs.
  • Experience with development tools such as Eclipse, GIT, jUnit, YourKit, Postman.
  • Oracle Database programming including Database design, Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Understanding of microservices - benefits, limitations, challenges.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and development best practices, especially around automation and testing.
  • Proficient in Java (core and EE), object-oriented design, and design patterns.
