The Senior Applications Developer position within the Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) Solution Management Division is a key technical role that focuses on application development and technical support primarily in the areas of disease surveillance and laboratory operations. This position is designed for an experienced IT professional who is eager to take on leadership responsibilities and contribute to the development of critical health applications. As part of the Health and Human Services (HHS) IT Delivery Center, the Senior Applications Developer will work closely with a team of Commonwealth and contracted employees to provide end-to-end IT services to various departments, including the Department of Human Services (DHS), DOH, DDAP, and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA). In this role, the Senior Applications Developer will be responsible for overseeing the software development life cycle (SDLC) and ensuring that all applications adhere to the policies and guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Commonwealth. The position requires a proactive approach to monitoring and evaluating system performance, as well as providing technical lead application support for several mission-critical applications, including the Enterprise Universal Master Person Index Service (EUS), Message Processing Gateway (MPG), Pennsylvania National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (PA-NEDSS), and others. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical skills in Azure DevOps, .NET 4.6 or higher, VB.NET, C#.NET, SQL Server, SSRS, and SSIS, and will be expected to utilize their expertise to enhance the functionality and reliability of these essential health applications. The work schedule for this position is full-time, with standard hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and includes a 60-minute lunch break. While the position allows for telework, the candidate must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and be able to report to the office at least once a month.
