About the position

The Senior Applications Developer position is a challenging IT leadership role focused on developing and maintaining custom applications for various tax systems. The role involves designing applications, performing systems analysis, and providing training to staff while ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, maintain, and redesign custom applications for tax systems including PIT, PTBO, Corporation Taxes, Motor Fuels, and Cigarette Tax.
  • Perform research, systems analysis, and design techniques for application development.
  • Prepare and review system documentation and procedures.
  • Design applications and prepare system/application/program specifications.
  • Verify the readability of images and screens in the data capture environment.
  • Manage complex projects and ensure timely delivery of applications.
  • Provide training to employees on system usage and application functionalities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with staff and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • One year as an Applications Developer 2 or Computer Programmer 4; or
  • Five years of IT experience including three years in applications development or maintenance; or
  • Three years of IT experience in applications development or maintenance, and an associate's degree in any IT field; or
  • One year of IT experience in applications development or maintenance, and a bachelor's degree in any IT field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Two or more years of full-time experience with .NET.
  • One or more years of full-time experience with SQL Server.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with tax systems or government applications development.
  • Familiarity with IRS regulations regarding Federal Tax Information (FTI).
