About the position

The Senior Field Applications Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific plays a pivotal role in providing technical support and applications analysis for the FTIR product line within the Environmental and Process Monitoring business unit. This position focuses on evaluating and qualifying gas analysis applications, supporting marketing activities, and collaborating with R&D and product management to enhance product capabilities. The role is essential for enabling customers to reduce emissions, improve product quality, and ensure employee safety through innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and applications analysis for the FTIR product line.
  • Evaluate and qualify gas analysis applications to broaden FTIR capabilities.
  • Support customer-facing marketing activities.
  • Identify emerging applications and propose solutions to product management.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Product Manager on new product requirements and testing.
  • Troubleshoot customer partner concerns in-depth.
  • Work with sales professionals to identify and cultivate new accounts.
  • Generate technical sales collateral including presentations and application notes.
  • Prepare and present seminars at trade shows and technical conferences.
  • Prioritize projects and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Deliver customer and sales training presentations on applications and products.
  • Lead product demonstrations showcasing FTIR technology.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Chemistry or similar field, or 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry preferred.
  • Proficiency in FTIR spectroscopy is required.
  • Experience with gas analysis is required.
  • Experience with chemometrics is preferred.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
