About the position

The Senior Applications Engineer - New Business Intake and Conflicts is a pivotal role within a law firm, responsible for overseeing and managing several critical applications and platforms that support the firm's Conflicts and Intake team. This includes key systems such as IntApp Conflicts, Intake, Walls, and Terms, along with various integrations and mobility solutions. The position requires a highly skilled technical professional who will handle the day-to-day administration, support, and oversight of these systems, ensuring their optimal performance and alignment with the firm's risk and compliance activities. In this role, the Senior Applications Engineer will collaborate closely with IT leadership and business stakeholders to define the strategic direction for these applications, enhancing their capabilities and ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the firm. The engineer will lead planning and implementation efforts for new solutions, ensuring that the applications are not only functional but also provide significant value to the organization. The position demands a solid understanding of workflows and processes related to new business intake and conflicts activities. The engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with IntApp to advocate for necessary product features and bug fixes. Additionally, the role involves monitoring application performance, capacity planning, and providing technical support as needed. The Senior Applications Engineer will also be expected to maintain accurate documentation, adhere to IT change management processes, and contribute to training and quality assurance efforts for the applications supported. Coaching junior analysts and collaborating with quality assurance teams on testing procedures are also key responsibilities of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Act as IT owner of applications supporting the risk and compliance activities of the firm, particularly IntApp Conflicts, Intake, Walls, and Terms.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of workflows and processes tied to new business intake and conflicts activities.
  • Build, maintain, and advance a strong relationship with IntApp to ensure desired product features and bug fixes are provided.
  • Work on application implementations, upgrades, enhancements, troubleshooting, and roadmaps.
  • Provide direct oversight and management of various solutions, as assigned.
  • Act as subject matter expert for those systems and provide technical support as needed.
  • Ensure the health and stability of all solutions owned.
  • Communicate effectively with the conflicts and intake team to analyze processes, application features, configurations, and end-user questions.
  • Monitor, track, and report on performance and capacity; responsible for capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with relevant IT teams to develop and deliver enhancements and new capabilities, driving and managing those efforts.
  • Deliver recommendations to business and IT leadership based on platform understanding, roadmap, and related business drivers.
  • Maintain current and accurate architecture and support documentation for engineering teams and support staff.
  • Participate in IT's Change Management, SDLC, and incident management processes.
  • Collaborate in the creation and use of training and Quality Assurance materials and activities for applications supported.
  • Provide coaching to junior analysts.
  • Work with Quality Assurance on test scripts, procedures, and remediation.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years' experience with IntApp Conflicts, Intake, Walls, and Terms or equivalent working with risk and compliance solutions (required).
  • At least 7 years' of information technology experience (required).
  • At least 5 years' experience working with and supporting enterprise platforms (required).
  • At least 3 years' executive level engagement and customer service experience (preferred).
  • At least 3 years' of experience in a professional services or legal environment (preferred).
  • Strong communication, organization, negotiation, critical thinking, and leadership skills, along with exceptional customer service and collaboration abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of multi-tier architecture including servers, databases, proxies, load balancing, trust/access rights, certificates, and integrations.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server including IIS, services, scheduled tasks, logging, and configurations.
  • Knowledge of system integrations including APIs, web services, FTP, and database to database.
  • Ability to manage monitoring, backups, HA, BC, DR, patching, and admin tools.
  • Ability to work with desktop and mobile applications for their installation and configurations.
  • Ability to work with SQL Server, SQL development/queries, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work with project management on plans, tasks, and resource management using tools such as Confluence and JIRA.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with security best practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with data governance best practices and procedures.
