About the position

The Senior Applications Engineer will play a crucial role in Zillow Group's Enterprise Application Engineering team, focusing on designing and building scalable solutions that enhance internal customer experiences. This position involves architecting and implementing employee-centric technical solutions, influencing the enterprise technology roadmap, and ensuring system performance and reliability. The role requires collaboration with various teams to deliver innovative solutions and maintain operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Author effective architectures and deliver critical code for employee-centric technical solutions.
  • Influence and shape the enterprise technology roadmap and design standards.
  • Cultivate a network of third-party tools into a unified, scalable platform.
  • Enhance system performance and reliability, diagnosing and resolving operational events.
  • Collaborate with system analysts and engineering teams to build and test solutions.
  • Ensure rigorous testing of the team's work using automated patterns.
  • Operate within an Agile/Scrum framework to deliver value across services.
  • Participate in a team on-call rotation to troubleshoot critical issues.
  • Own the enterprise technology roadmap and adjust architectural strategies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing, developing, and integrating SaaS applications across Enterprise technology infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems like Workday, ServiceNow, Active Directory, and Gen AI agents.
  • Deep knowledge of SQL, REST/SOAP, Graph API, Workday Studio, Workday Orchestration, and Mulesoft.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python) with a willingness to learn additional tools.
  • Experience designing, building, and deploying scalable applications, preferably in AWS.
  • Strong ownership and effective communication skills with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Experience across the software development lifecycle, including coding standards and code reviews.
  • Proactive in identifying initiatives to enhance system performance and efficiency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud technologies and services beyond AWS.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
