About the position

The Senior Applications Engineer is a key member of the team responsible for the architecture, design, development, support, maintenance, and future roadmaps for strategic enterprise platforms and HR applications. This role involves collaboration with users and stakeholders to deliver technology solutions that align with business goals, as well as providing training and support for enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the configuration, maintenance, enhancement and support of commercial software packages, internally developed applications, databases, and web services.
  • Lead the customization and addition of new features to commercial software packages and internally developed applications according to end user requests.
  • Develop and support data automation solutions based on business needs.
  • Lead the maintenance of day-to-day operations of various applications.
  • Design and build new applications based on customer's requirements and specifications.
  • Write and perform tests for applications, fix problems as they arise, and assist with product launches.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot problems related to applications.
  • Write technical documentation and use best development practices regarding version control and testing.
  • Perform software upgrades and keep track of software licensing.
  • Assist with managing vendor relationships including scoping of application services and review of deliverables.
  • Provide architectural guidance across IT portfolio that follows SDLC best practices and methodologies.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to support evolving business and capabilities requirements.
  • Develop and maintain operational run books for IT enterprise systems.
  • Participate in regulatory audits, as needed.
  • Be proactive and recommend novel solutions that solve business problems.
  • Instruct and mentor others by taking a hands-on approach and contributing to solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related discipline.
  • 15+ years IT experience.
  • 10+ years experience in software application development and database management.
  • Proven history managing third party vendors for system implementation and support.
  • Experience with Analytics, Master Data Management, and Integration is a plus.
  • Project management and delivery methodology experience.
