About the position

The Senior Applications Engineer at Trojan Technologies plays a crucial role in interfacing with sales and customers to understand their technical needs and apply Aria Filtra's solutions for membrane filtration capital equipment, temporary water treatment, and engineered upgrade solutions. This position is integral to driving profitable business growth by ensuring timely responses to customer technical inquiries and facilitating the handover of opportunities to project teams. The Senior Applications Engineer is also responsible for coaching and guiding Applications Engineers, making this role pivotal within the Sales organization. In this hybrid role, located at the London, ON office, the Senior Applications Engineer will develop, own, and lead technical proposal and bid development for complex membrane filtration systems. This includes understanding customer technical needs, sizing equipment, developing drawings, costing, and writing technical proposals while balancing risk. The role requires instilling confidence in the Aria Filtra technical value proposition to customers, influencing them to select Aria Filtra for new capital equipment, mobile rentals, and engineered upgrades. The engineer will gather customer feedback to generate ideas for growth opportunities and will support the operations team in executing projects to ensure that technical requirements, scope, costing, and schedules align with proposals. Additionally, the Senior Applications Engineer will identify and execute additional growth opportunities for Aria Filtra, leading or assisting in the development of process sizing, proposal development, costing, and budgetary tools to enhance the accuracy and speed of proposals to customers. This position requires a commitment to understanding and addressing the complex water treatment needs of customers, ensuring that Trojan Technologies continues to be a leader in the water quality industry.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with sales and customers to understand technical needs and apply Aria Filtra's solutions.
  • Drive profitable business growth by responding to customer technical inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate the handover of opportunities to project teams.
  • Develop, own, and lead technical proposal and bid development for complex membrane filtration systems.
  • Understand customer technical needs, size equipment, develop drawings, and write technical proposals.
  • Instill confidence in the Aria Filtra technical value proposition to customers.
  • Guide and mentor Applications Engineers in technical proposal development and career growth.
  • Support the operations team in executing projects to ensure alignment with proposed technical requirements, scope, costing, and schedules.
  • Identify and execute additional growth opportunities for Aria Filtra.
  • Lead or assist in the development of process sizing, proposal development, costing, and budgetary tools.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years' experience in advanced water treatment process design.
  • Experience performing process and equipment design calculations on low pressure membrane filtration and reverse osmosis equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and influence technical specifications and drawings for water treatment applications.
  • Experience interfacing with external water treatment customers in the Municipal or Industrial markets.
  • Must have no legal restrictions to travel between the US and Canada.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with related technologies for pre-and post-membrane treatment such as dissolved air flotation, granular media filtration, clarifiers, lime softening, coagulation, de-gasifier, ion exchange, solids handling, or UV.
