About the position

The Senior Applications & Projects Engineer at Hyliion is responsible for leading technical engagements with customer engineering teams to design and develop solutions for Karno Generators in the power generation market. This role involves close collaboration with various teams to ensure the delivery of cost-effective and reliable solutions that meet customer needs while also informing future product development. The position requires extensive experience in distributed energy resources and the application of generating resources using various fuel sources.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers to translate requirements into effective technical solutions for Karno generators.
• Develop techno-commercial responses for RFPs/RFQs and project inquiries related to Karno Generators.
• Provide engineering data, documentation, and training to customers for equipment integration.
• Create QA/QC and commissioning data packs with project teams.
• Promote Karno Generator solutions through presentations at conferences and customer sessions.
• Serve as a resident expert in stationary and mobile power generation applications.
• Assist in on-site commissioning of Karno generators and troubleshoot system issues.
• Contribute to the development of pricing models and quotation tools for improved proposal efficiency.
• Build strong relationships with customer technical teams to resolve complex installation issues.
• Ensure correct application and installation of Karno Generators to meet design and code requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in a similar applications engineering role in the Power Generation industry.
• Understanding of industry standards and codes such as NEMA, NFPA, IEC, IEEE, UL.
• Knowledge of emissions standards for stationary and mobile power generation (EPA, CARB DG).
• Experience in design and development of microgrids or projects involving natural gas, waste gas, or cogeneration.

Nice-to-haves

• Professional certifications related to applications engineering or power generation.
• Experience with EPC project engineering and product conceptual design.
