About the position

Geomagical Labs is a cutting-edge 3D R&D lab in partnership with IKEA, dedicated to creating magical mixed-reality experiences for hundreds of millions of users. Our work leverages advanced technologies such as computer vision, neural networks, graphics, and computational photography. Following a successful launch last year, we are excited about the future and are looking to expand our team with a Senior Computer Vision Researcher. This role focuses on 3D Reconstruction and Deep Learning expertise, aimed at developing and enhancing the algorithms that power our consumer products. We are seeking highly motivated and creative applied researchers who possess an entrepreneurial spirit and are passionate about building novel technologies that reach millions of customers. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. with at least 2 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years of experience, specifically in 3D Computer Vision and Deep Learning. Candidates should have a strong background in classical methods for 3D Reconstruction, including SfM/SLAM, Multi-view Stereo, and RGB-D Fusion. Additionally, experience in utilizing Deep Learning for 3D Reconstruction and/or Scene Understanding is essential, with familiarity in areas such as Depth Estimation, Room Layout Estimation, NeRFs, Inverse Rendering, and 3D Scene Understanding. The position requires expertise in ML frameworks and libraries, particularly PyTorch, and a high level of productivity in Python. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to architect and implement complex systems at both the micro and macro levels. We value entrepreneurial qualities, including being adventurous, self-driven, and comfortable with uncertainty, along with a desire to ensure systems work end-to-end. Innovation is key, and we are looking for individuals with a track record of patents and/or first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as CVPR, ECCV/ICCV, SIGGRAPH, and ISMAR. Experience in developing technologies that have been integrated into products, along with post-launch performance tracking and improvements, is highly desirable. Familiarity with C++ is a bonus. Join our mission-driven R&D lab, strategically backed by a globally influential brand. You will work within a dynamic team of professionals specializing in computer vision, AI, computational photography, AR, graphics, and design, alongside successful serial entrepreneurs. This role also offers the opportunity to publish novel and relevant research. We provide fully remote work options for individuals residing in the USA or Canada. Our headquarters is located in downtown Palo Alto, California, conveniently close to restaurants, coffee shops, and Caltrain commuter rail. The USA base salary for this full-time position ranges from $180,000 to $250,000, determined by location, role, skill, and experience level. Geomagical Labs offers a comprehensive set of benefits, and for qualifying roles, substantial incentive grants that vest annually.
