About the position

The Senior Applied Scientist in the Machine Learning Accelerator team at Amazon is responsible for researching and prototyping machine learning applications that address strategic business challenges within the Selling Partner Services (SPS) domain. This role involves collaboration with engineers and business partners to design and implement scalable solutions, developing large-scale solutions for impactful projects, and mentoring junior team members. The position emphasizes innovation, simplification of processes, and the application of advanced algorithms to enhance customer and seller experiences.

Responsibilities

• Research and prototype machine learning applications to solve strategic business problems across SPS domains.
• Collaborate with engineers and business partners to design and implement scalable solutions.
• Develop large-scale solutions for high-impact projects.
• Introduce tools and techniques to solve problems from various perspectives.
• Influence the team's technical strategy and contribute to priorities, approach, and planning.
• Mentor junior team members and participate in hiring processes.

Requirements

• 4+ years of applied research experience.
• 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications.
• PhD or Master's degree with 6+ years of applied research experience.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy.
• Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop and Spark.
