About the position

The Senior Archaeologist at POWER Engineers, Inc. will play a pivotal role in leading archaeological survey work and providing cultural resource management expertise for various environmental projects across the Western United States. This full-time position offers the flexibility to work from multiple office locations or remotely, focusing on projects related to transmission/distribution lines, renewable energy, and environmental surveys. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in federal and state agency regulations and a strong background in archaeological field techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Lead archaeological survey work on federal and public lands throughout the Western United States.
  • Write reports for federal and state agency submittal.
  • Provide technical support and cultural resource management expertise for project development and execution.
  • Conduct field surveys using topographic maps and GPS data collection software.
  • Work independently and plan personal assignments with minimal instruction.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, managers, and agency representatives.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Archeology, Anthropology, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of previous CRM field experience including leadership positions.
  • Skill in planning, writing, and reviewing cultural resource reports in support of Class III inventories and NEPA processes.
  • Knowledge of equipment and technology used in documenting archaeological sites and artifacts.
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain federal and state permits in several Western United States.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in utility transmission, pipeline, and renewable energy projects.
  • Staff mentorship and previous staff leadership experience.
  • Experience developing cost estimates, scopes of work, and schedules for complex field surveys.
  • CPR/First Aid/OSHA certifications and experience.
  • Demonstrated writing skills with copies of 2 to 3 reports for review.
