About the position

The Senior Architect for Operational Data Architecture & AI/ML at Travelers Insurance is a strategic role focused on transforming business and technology capabilities within the Personal Insurance sector. This position requires collaboration with technology and business leaders to design and implement innovative solutions that leverage modern data architectures, generative AI, and machine learning. The architect will be responsible for driving technology transformation, reducing technical debt, and ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy while continuously improving architecture efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Personal Insurance and technology leadership to develop architecture priorities and direction to enable business imperatives.
  • Advocate for modern architecture principles and technology modernization.
  • Drive continuous technology transformation to reduce technical debt.
  • Partner with engineering to align skills with technology direction and execute proof of technologies.
  • Analyze industry and technology trends to leverage advancements.
  • Lead and define technology proof of concepts to validate architecture solutions.
  • Engage in hands-on prototyping of new technology solutions.
  • Define target state technology architecture and roadmaps.
  • Align IT initiatives with the target state architecture.
  • Communicate architectural direction and its alignment with enterprise strategy.
  • Optimize talent strategy to ensure appropriate balance of resources.
  • Continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the architecture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field or equivalent.
  • 6+ years of application architecture experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in machine learning, deep learning, or AI architecture.
  • Hands-on experience in data architecture within the last 3 years.
  • Experience modernizing data technology and information architecture on cloud.
  • Experience with AWS components including Lambda, Kinesis/Firehose, Airflow, Glue, Spark, EC2, SageMaker, S3, NoSQL database, and API Gateway.
  • Experience in data streaming technologies.
  • Experience with NoSQL and GraphQL technologies.
  • Experience in Data Modeling, Governance, and Data Management.
  • Experience with Data Governance and Management to enable data lineage, audit/balance/control, data domain, and data quality projects.
  • Experience with Large/Small Language Models (AWS Bedrock, OpenAI) in application architecture.
  • Understanding of data preprocessing, augmentation, and handling large datasets.
  • Familiarity with Responsible AI Framework.
  • Knowledge of GenAI frameworks like Langchain for building and deploying applications.
  • Proficiency in development technologies such as Python, NodeJS, React, RestAPI, MongoDB, etc.
  • Experience with specific DevOps and MLOps practices.
  • Exposure and understanding of advanced analytics techniques using ML and Generative AI.
  • Deep experience with AWS, APIs, accelerators, and DevSecOps.
  • Cloud Architecture Certification (AWS, GCP, or Azure) or strong cloud architecture experience.
  • Experience developing technology roadmaps aligned with business goals.
  • Good understanding of security.
  • Experience in agile operating models and insurance technology.
