About the position

The City of Dallas is seeking a Senior Architect to manage, oversee, and supervise the design, construction, and related architectural functions for large scale Capital Improvement projects. This role involves serving as the key design professional for various projects across the City, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards while delivering high-quality results. The Senior Architect will be responsible for all aspects of planning, design, bid preparation, cost estimation, and monitoring construction compliance. Responsibilities

  • Directs, oversees, and supervises architectural design process on both renovation and new construction projects.
  • Reviews, checks, and evaluates designs for code compliance and maintains documents for permit process.
  • Manages construction and implementation process on both renovation and new construction projects.
  • Reviews and approves consultant invoices and construction pay applications.
  • Serves as professional resource to tenants, design consultants, and developers for non-City owned projects.
  • Manages, oversees, and directs the work of subordinates, including interns.
  • Drafts, prepares, and presents reports on project scope, schedule, budget, and status.
  • Serves as internal resource for contracting, accounts payable, and architectural archives.
  • Attends and conducts training seminars to ensure continuing education and licensing requirements are met.
  • Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
  • Four (4) years experience as a licensed architect including familiarity with construction cost estimating, CAD drafting, project administration, project scheduling, building materials and methods of construction.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Current License issued by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners or architect license from other state(s) with a certificate from the National Council of Architectural Registration Board.
  • Must pass Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree (or higher) in Architecture from an accredited university plus two (2) years of the required experience.
