About the position

The Senior Architectural Design Associate (Architect) position at CGL is a pivotal role that involves the creation and completion of designs, drawings, and presentations necessary for various projects and final construction documents. This position reports directly to a Vice President and is designed for individuals who are working towards becoming licensed architects. The Senior Designer will engage in a variety of tasks that require both technical skills and creative design capabilities, ensuring that all work aligns with the company's standards and client expectations. In this role, the Senior Designer will prepare for client meetings, interface with clients and consultants, and convey ideas effectively through verbal, written, graphic, and presentation formats. The position also requires a developing knowledge of industry terminology, laws, standards, practices, principles, and regulations. The Senior Designer will assist in the preparation of reports and compile content under supervision, while also managing time effectively to meet project deadlines. The design responsibilities include understanding and applying relevant codes and standards, performing design analyses, and utilizing internal BIM standards. The Senior Designer will also be expected to translate red-lined sketches into Revit/CADD drawings and perform architectural assignments with moderate supervision. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented self-starter who thrives in a collaborative team environment and is eager to develop their skills in architectural design.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for client meetings under supervision.
  • Interface with clients and consultants.
  • Convey ideas in verbal, written, graphic, and presentation formats.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and compile report content under supervision.
  • Manage time and meet assignment/project deadlines.
  • Perform analysis of designs and studies.
  • Apply internal BIM Standards.
  • Translate red-lined sketches into Revit/CADD drawings.
  • Perform architectural assignments with moderate supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture required; Master of Architecture preferred.
  • Four to six years of architectural design experience.
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling programs such as Revit, Enscape, AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Rhinoceros, Google Sketchup, V-Ray.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships with colleagues.
  • Competency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is a plus.
  • Produces accurate work as part of a coordinated project team.
  • Understands construction time management and utilizes project management tools.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Competency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is a plus.
