About the position

The Senior Architectural Designer will play a crucial role in supporting large and complex architectural projects, overseeing project teams, and leading medium to large-scale projects. This position involves developing innovative design concepts that align with client goals while adhering to budget constraints. The designer will also be responsible for creating construction documents, managing the design process, and mentoring less experienced staff.

Responsibilities

  • Support large and complex projects in developing design and oversight of project teams.
  • Create and develop overall design concepts and formulate design presentation strategies.
  • Develop innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe, and reflective of client goals.
  • Coordinate construction documents and specifications indicating full design intent.
  • Lead major portions of larger projects or function as Design Lead on mid to large size projects.
  • Define program requirements and establish design parameters based on client needs.
  • Participate in program development, conceptual and schematic design, including space planning and layout.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal presentation skills, including hand sketching to convey design direction.
  • Understand zoning codes, building codes, accessibility requirements, and construction techniques.
  • Manage the design process throughout the project and lead the work of other designers and technical staff.
  • Manage client interactions and decision-making related to design guidance and mentorship.
  • Solicit bids and assist Project Manager and client in subcontracting fabrication and installation.
  • Collaborate, delegate, and mentor less experienced staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong 3-D computer rendering skills.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • License, LEED AP preferred but not required.
