About the position

The Senior Area Instrumentation Engineer at Messer, LLC is responsible for providing technical engineering support and subject matter expert recommendations for instrumentation, analytical, and controls equipment across various industrial gas plants. This role involves troubleshooting, maintenance support, and overseeing instrumentation activities to ensure operational efficiency and safety within the facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical, troubleshooting and maintenance support to all ASU, CO2, H2, and He plants for instrumentation equipment.
  • Assists with execution of small improvement projects and provides day-to-day plant instrumentation support.
  • Maintains and develops necessary electrical and instrumentation documentation including wiring schematics and layout drawings.
  • Supports plant instrument technicians with troubleshooting and repair of failed instrumentation.
  • Identifies, defines, estimates, develops, and executes instrumentation turnaround maintenance activities.
  • Manages and provides technical support to instrument contractors to ensure compliance and accurate scope completion.
  • Completes area instrumentation technical reviews of MOCs and provides supplemental engineering data as necessary.
  • Supports the certification process of area Instrumentation Technicians in regard to ISA CCST levels.
  • Provides guidance and training for ISA certification process of area technicians.
  • Travels as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant Engineering discipline required.
  • 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in an operational and engineering environment working with electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Demonstrates exceptional operational safety leadership.
  • Self-starter with ability to manage multiple activities and achieve results with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent technical and clear communication skills with solid interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PLC/DCS systems and I/O devices.
  • Proven experience with plant process instrumentation including pressure, temperature, and flow devices.
  • Effectiveness at troubleshooting control loop issues and executing solutions.
