About the position

The Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at California State University, Fresno is responsible for overseeing NCAA compliance functions, ensuring adherence to NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations for student-athletes, coaches, and staff. This role involves strategic planning, education, and enforcement of compliance policies, as well as serving as a liaison to various sports programs. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, along with a commitment to equity and diversity within the athletics department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage NCAA compliance functions and ensure adherence to NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.
  • Establish and implement processes related to the eligibility of student-athletes.
  • Develop and implement a robust NCAA rules education program for all constituents.
  • Maintain student-athlete files and ensure documentation is up-to-date according to retention policies.
  • Serve as the primary compliance liaison to assigned sports programs.
  • Audit compliance processes related to recruiting, eligibility, transfers, and financial aid.
  • Provide adhoc reporting on compliance functions to senior athletics staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum four years of experience in NCAA athletics compliance at a Division I institution or equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
  • Experience managing rules and regulatory issues in a comprehensive athletics compliance program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or Juris Doctor.
  • Experience in compliance at an FBS institution.
  • Experience leading and managing an Athletics Compliance Office.
  • Experience with ACS database system.
