About the position

The Senior Associate Athletics Director of External Relations will lead and execute brand, marketing, and revenue generation strategies for Pepperdine Athletics. This role focuses on enhancing the national reputation of Pepperdine Athletics and the university, particularly its Christian mission, through collaboration with various departments and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies for brand growth and revenue generation using a data-driven approach.
  • Lead and manage the external relations team, including marketing, communications, video, ticketing, and sponsorships.
  • Collaborate with university Advancement on fundraising strategies and manage a portfolio of major donors.
  • Form alliances with the local community to develop partnerships and generate resources.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to promote the strategic goals of the athletics department and university.
  • Serve as sports administrator for assigned sports, supporting head coaches in program development.
  • Participate as a member of the athletics senior staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6-8 years of experience in business or external relations roles with demonstrated leadership.
  • Leadership and strategic management experience.
  • Problem-solving and data analysis skills.
  • Strong relationship building and successful collaboration record.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree - MBA preferred.
  • Experience in athletic leadership.
  • Experience with ticket and sponsorship sales.
