The Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Operations at Columbia University is a pivotal role within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education. This position is responsible for overseeing all external operations, which include revenue generation, marketing, and strategic communications. The individual in this role will report directly to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education and will be an integral member of the Department's Senior Management Team. The Senior Associate Athletics Director will provide leadership and strategic direction to various units, including ticket operations, athletics communications, marketing, promotions, concessions, merchandise sales, brand management, licensing, corporate partnerships, and broadcast production units. In this role, the Senior Associate Athletics Director will develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and business plan that engages stakeholders and prioritizes initiatives aimed at enhancing the visibility and support of Columbia University Athletics. This includes determining budget allocations for chosen initiatives and ensuring a cohesive approach to brand awareness across all program elements. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for content creation and projects that positively influence support for Columbia Athletics. Additionally, the Senior Associate Athletics Director will direct and supervise staff responsible for planning and executing promotional activities, in-game assets, and video board content. The role also emphasizes fostering increased fan interaction to enhance the in-game experience, while maintaining the highest professional standards and ethical behavior in accordance with NCAA, Ivy League, and University policies. The individual will also contribute to maintaining good working relationships within the Department and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education.
