About the position

As a Senior Associate in Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Investing at BNY Mellon, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the sustainability initiatives of one of the leading global financial services companies. This position is based in New York City and operates in a hybrid work environment, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) regulatory reports and disclosures, such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). You will engage in research to benchmark best practices in ESG reporting and implement recommendations to enhance the firm's performance in this area. In addition to reporting, you will collaborate with various teams across the firm to collect, validate, and analyze ESG data, ensuring its quality and accuracy. Your role will also involve supporting the development and implementation of ESG policies and frameworks, providing guidance and training to stakeholders to foster a culture of sustainability within the organization. You will contribute to the execution of the ESG strategy and initiatives, integrating sustainability factors into business activities and decision-making processes. This position requires a proactive approach to managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and communication. To thrive in this role, you will need a solid foundation in sustainability management, public policy, or a related field, along with 3-5 years of relevant work experience. Your analytical and writing skills will be crucial for effectively communicating complex information to diverse audiences. A passion for sustainability and a commitment to continuous improvement will be essential as you navigate the evolving landscape of ESG regulations and practices.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of overall work experience in sustainability management, public policy, accounting, or related fields.
  • Experience in compliance, internal audit, or performance auditing with attention to detail.
  • Experience in reporting for sustainability regulations and frameworks.
  • Exceptional analytical and writing skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills to escalate challenges and identify solutions.
  • Collaborative teamwork skills with a focus on execution and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Workiva is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in or with large financial institutions on ESG issues.
