About the position

The Senior Associate Director of Athletic Compliance at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities plays a crucial role in ensuring adherence to NCAA, Big Ten Conference, WCHA, and university regulations. This position involves advising athletic staff, overseeing compliance matters for designated sports, and providing educational resources to enhance understanding of compliance requirements. The role also includes supervising interns and assisting with various projects within the compliance office.

Responsibilities

  • Advising and assisting in compliance with NCAA, Big Ten Conference, WCHA, and University of Minnesota rules and regulations.
  • Representing the compliance office in the absence of the Executive Director.
  • Overseeing all compliance office matters for Football and other designated sports.
  • Providing written rules interpretations to athletic staff.
  • Preparing and presenting educational material for support staff, coaches, and athletic department staff.
  • Assisting with compliance office and athletic department projects as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Providing support to other compliance staff members.
  • Analyzing complex problems and providing solutions.
  • Supervising the internship program based on applicant experience and office needs.
  • Assisting in implementing elements of the House settlement as assigned.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree and at least five years of experience or a combination of education and experience totaling 9 years.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters or law degree.
  • Three years of experience in Division I athletic compliance.
  • Experience with NCAA and Teamworks applications (including ARMS or Compliance + Recruiting).
  • Experience with college or professional football.
