About the position

The Senior Associate Director of Development for Major Gifts at Stanford Medicine is a key fundraising role responsible for developing and executing strategic fundraising plans to secure major and principal gifts. This position involves building and managing relationships with high-net-worth individuals and collaborating with faculty and academic leaders to support transformative initiatives in research, patient care, and education. The role requires a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic fundraising plans for assigned objectives and execute development activities.
  • Interact regularly with faculty to understand their programs and funding needs.
  • Partner with academic leaders to develop proposals for transformative gifts.
  • Manage approximately 75-100 philanthropic relationships with a focus on engagement and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on fundraising activities across various teams within Medical Center Development.
  • Stay informed on university initiatives and contribute to Stanford Medicine's overall priorities.
  • Promote and support an environment of diversity and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to achieve fundraising goals and work effectively with faculty and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Strong sense of urgency in gift discussions and adaptability to philanthropic opportunities.
  • Commitment to a collaborative culture with patience and flexibility.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and listening skills.
  • Proven skills in managing competing priorities and complex issues.
