About the position

The Senior Associate Director of Marketing at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics (Penn LDI) is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies aimed at enhancing the visibility and reputation of the Institute and its affiliated researchers. This role is pivotal in generating leads and attracting new audiences to Penn LDI, while also identifying marketing opportunities that align with the organization's objectives. The Senior Associate Director will independently spearhead outreach initiatives and marketing campaigns for public events, partnerships, professional organizations, educational offerings, and other activities related to Penn LDI. The position requires a deep understanding of marketing best practices, particularly within the health policy field. The Senior Associate Director will create detailed promotion plans that leverage various channels, including social media, print and digital content, websites, email marketing, and collateral materials. Oversight of content production is essential to ensure messaging consistency and effectiveness. The role also involves providing guidance to copy editors and graphic designers, monitoring and reporting on outreach efforts, and conducting marketing research to identify trends and opportunities. Collaboration with Penn LDI's communications team is crucial to ensure that all marketing and communication efforts are aligned and professionalize the branding of Penn LDI. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal communication skills, be detail-oriented, and excel in problem-solving, writing, and copyediting. This position requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, interacting with a diverse range of individuals within and outside the University.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies for Penn LDI.
  • Spearhead outreach initiatives and marketing campaigns for public events and partnerships.
  • Create promotion plans utilizing social media, print and digital content, and email marketing.
  • Oversee content production to ensure messaging consistency and effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance to copy editors and graphic designers for marketing products.
  • Monitor and report on the progress and results of outreach efforts.
  • Conduct marketing research to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to optimize branding efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communication or a related field and 5 to 7 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master's degree in communication or related field and 7 to 10 years of experience preferred.
  • Proven record of strategic marketing and successful audience growth in a prior position.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in graphic design, data visualization, and/or illustration preferred.
  • Educational background or professional experience in a non-profit organization or in health care or policy preferred.
  • Experience working with multimedia communication systems required.
  • Strong writing and copyediting skills, detail-oriented, and excellent problem-solving abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in health policy marketing is a plus.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools and analytics.
