About the position

The Senior Associate in Enterprise Risk Management - Control Methodology at Capital One will play a crucial role in supporting the governance and application of the Enterprise Control Standard methodology. This position focuses on ensuring adherence to internal control standards, enhancing risk management processes, and collaborating with various stakeholders to maintain an effective internal control environment. The ideal candidate will leverage their risk management and process improvement skills to contribute to the organization's stability and success.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Standard adherence and partner with impacted groups to develop and implement solutions when opportunities are found.
  • Leverage monitoring, related risk data, and program assessments to identify program enhancements, training, and guidance improvements.
  • Execute portions of the control challenge process to drive timely identification of the appropriate second line challenger groups and submission of outcomes into the GRC.
  • Support the team in the development and delivery of training, guidance, and related services to drive Standard adherence.
  • Be intellectually curious to question the obvious, explore options, and seek efficiencies and improvements.
  • Collaborate effectively with other risk programs and stakeholders (e.g., Operational Risk Management, Compliance, Business Risk Offices).
  • Help support, where needed, special projects and engagements.
  • Support periodic updates and maintenance of the Business Continuity Plan.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
  • At least 1 year of experience in risk management, compliance, or standards governance.
  • At least 1 year of experience in process and controls management, process quality, or audit.
  • Experience with Google Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • 2+ years of experience in the financial industry.
  • 2+ years of experience in controls development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and desire to continually expand their risk management knowledge.
