About the position

The Senior Associate, Hedge Fund Tax Accountant position at SS&C involves a critical role within the Tax Department, which is responsible for the company's day-to-day tax operations. This includes the preparation and filing of various tax returns such as federal, state, foreign, income, sales and use, VAT, and others. The Tax Department also oversees all aspects of foreign tax reporting, ensuring compliance with international tax regulations. The team operates within the Finance organization, primarily located in New York, NY, with additional regional offices in London, Sao Paulo, and Singapore. In this role, you will be tasked with preparing and conducting first-level reviews of Federal and State partnership tax returns using Go System RIA. You will also calculate foreign tax withholding and prepare the necessary tax forms, as well as prepare quarterly tax estimates and year-end projections. A significant part of your responsibilities will include reconciling book to tax income and collaborating with staff to prepare tax work papers. You will perform various tax analyses, including wash sales, constructive sales, straddles, market discount, swaps, and K-1 summary analyses. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and conduct first level review of Federal & State partnership tax returns utilizing Go System RIA
  • Calculate foreign tax withholding and prepare necessary tax forms
  • Prepare quarterly tax estimates and year-end projections
  • Prepare book to tax income reconciliation
  • Work with staff in the preparation of tax work papers
  • Perform tax analyses including wash sales, constructive sales, straddles, market discount, swaps, and K-1 summary analyses

Requirements

  • 2+ years of partnership tax experience with a main concentration either in hedge or private equity funds
  • Experience with aggregate allocations and layering is a plus
  • Knowledge of foreign reporting requirements is a plus
  • Solid MS Excel and GoSystems knowledge is required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to set priorities and direct team members accordingly
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail, and ability to multi-task
