About the position

The Senior Associate Instructional Designer at Capital One is responsible for designing and developing engaging learning materials for the Small Business Banking group. This role focuses on creating digital-first learning experiences that enhance the associate and customer experience. The designer will collaborate with business partners to translate business needs into effective learning solutions, utilizing various modalities and technologies to deliver impactful training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Increase the effectiveness of learning solutions by identifying and recommending formats and modalities that create an optimal learning experience.
  • Design and develop curriculum, programs, learning materials, and performance support tools from a blank slate based on industry design standards.
  • Design content, including measurable learning objectives, leader and participant materials, experiential scenarios, simulations, and assessment questions.
  • Decrease required development time through proficient use of Articulate Storyline for eLearning development.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and agility with new learning technologies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Design training solutions that leverage current learning trends, including gamification and rich media to enhance the learner experience.
  • Participate in stakeholder, subject matter expert, and learner interviews to curate relevant content.
  • Recommend and document project instructional standards and strategies, learner engagement strategies, and evaluation plans.
  • Represent Learning in broader project efforts, ensuring effective delivery in alignment with project timeline goals.
  • Engage with project team members to ensure clarity of goals and conduct ongoing reviews to meet client needs.
  • Participate in Train-the-Trainer activities when applicable.
  • Assist Learning Manager by identifying issues, diagnosing problems, and analyzing opportunities and risks.
  • Set and achieve challenging individual goals that support department and business goals.
  • Predict resources needed to reach learning objectives and manage them effectively.
  • Assume personal responsibility for projects and follow-through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Provide project updates to stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Proficient use of multiple rapid development content tools to create online courseware.
  • Exceptional professional communication and technical writing skills.
  • Experience with ADDIE, SAM, and Agile training development models.
  • Experience with project management and managing multiple tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Training Design and Development.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Articulate Storyline, Captivate or Camtasia.
  • At least 1 year of experience utilizing Google Suite to create online or eLearning courseware.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 3 years of experience in Training Design and Development for digital modalities.
  • At least 2 years of experience with curating and developing content for mobile devices.
  • At least 2 years of experience with multimedia photo and video editing software.
