About the position

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a motivated individual to join the FTI team as an IP Network Engineer, specifically supporting the IP Service Activation Center. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective supervision of FTI equipment and the installation and activation of service orders. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with both internal and external teams while also being capable of independently implementing scheduled network maintenance events. The position involves managing special projects that align with program requirements, making it essential for the candidate to be proactive and detail-oriented. As an IP Network Engineer, the individual will be responsible for executing and documenting formal acceptance testing of FTI products and services in accordance with program requirements. A strong understanding of FTI Telecommunications equipment installation, configuration, and testing standards is crucial, including knowledge of TDM, ETHERNET, PDH, SDH, SONET, and IP network architecture. The candidate should possess intermediate-level experience, ideally with a CCNA certification or equivalent, in troubleshooting IP network configurations. Familiarity with various data protocols such as TCP/IP, DMVPN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, EIGRP, ISIS, HSRP, VPLS, LDP, PIM, MSDP, and Ethernet is also required. The role demands strong customer interface skills to coordinate with Telco providers and Harris field technicians for site access as necessary. The engineer will be tasked with testing, troubleshooting, and validating communication circuits according to IEEE, ITU, TIA, ISO, and FTI specifications. Close collaboration with FTI Engineering team members will be essential to resolve any implementation and acceptance issues that may arise. Additionally, the engineer will execute coordinated Maintenance Request (MR) activities to support engineering changes as per customer and program requirements, as well as manage service disconnects throughout the established Network/CPE based on customer requests.

Responsibilities

  • Support supervision of FTI equipment and service order installation and activation.
  • Execute and document formal acceptance testing of FTI products and services per program requirements.
  • Manage special projects supporting program requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to implement scheduled network maintenance events.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and validate communication circuits per IEEE, ITU, TIA, ISO and FTI specifications.
  • Execute a coordinated Maintenance Request (MR) activity to support engineering changes per customer and program requirements.
  • Execute services disconnects throughout the established Network/CPE per customer and program request.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • Intermediate (CCNA certification or equivalent experience) level of experience troubleshooting IP network configurations.
  • Knowledge of data protocols including TCP/IP, DMVPN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, EIGRP, ISIS, HSRP, VPLS, LDP, PIM, MSDP, and Ethernet.
  • Strong customer interface skills supporting coordination of both Telco providers and Harris field technician site access as required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings and technical procedures.
  • MEF 2.0 certification and/or equivalent level experience preferred.
