About the position

L3Harris is seeking a motivated individual for the role of IP Network Engineer, focusing on innovative network solutions. The position involves managing and implementing IP network solutions, collaborating with various teams, and working independently on projects from inception to completion. Key responsibilities include developing network designs, configuring network equipment, and ensuring operational excellence of network systems.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate technologies and designs for critical infrastructure and service needs for the FAA.
  • Implement solutions supporting the FAA's NextGen visions and objectives.
  • Serve as escalation support for Tier 1 and Tier 2 Operations teams for problem resolution.
  • Participate in inter-program initiatives to resolve technical challenges.
  • Create and maintain documentation and training for knowledge transfer.
  • Maintain operational excellence of network systems to exceed customer expectations.
  • Define and implement best practices for network and capacity management.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and network optimization.
  • Perform proof of concepts and service trials while documenting system integration.
  • Travel as required for requirement meetings and system integration planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or 2 years post-secondary/associates degree with 6 years of related experience, or 6 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience implementing network design, testing, and building enterprise networks.
  • Experience with network technologies such as Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, and SDN.
  • Experience configuring MPLS, ISIS, QoS, BGP, VPLS, and troubleshooting BGP.
  • Experience with analysis and capacity planning for large distributed communications systems.
  • Experience peering with Tier 1 Internet Service providers and troubleshooting routing within the Internet.
  • Experience with leading network vendors such as Cisco, F5, and Pulse Secure.
  • Experience developing documentation and providing knowledge transfer to functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical degree.
  • CCNA or other advanced certification(s).
  • Ability to plan, implement, verify, and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks.
  • Strong enterprise network troubleshooting skills (Multicast, Layer 2, Cisco IOS, IP routing).
  • Strong skill set with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Cloud Computing design and implementation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Network Scripting.
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting Enterprise VPN environments.
  • Demonstrated customer focus skills.
