About the position

The Senior Auditor position at UC Davis involves performing audits, advisory service projects, and investigations across financial, operational, and compliance areas. The role requires adherence to professional auditing standards and aims to assess organizational risks, design work programs, and communicate findings to management. The auditor will also promote internal control concepts to assist university personnel in their duties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial, operational, functional, and IT audits and advisory services.
  • Assess organizational and operational risks and design work programs accordingly.
  • Prepare work papers and maintain communication with operating staff and management.
  • Develop recommendations and draft reports to management based on audit findings.
  • Perform post-engagement work to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Promote concepts of internal control to assist University personnel.

Requirements

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
  • BS or BA Degree in accounting or business or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-4 years of auditing experience.
  • Experience planning and executing financial, compliance, and operational audits.
  • Broad knowledge of finance, accounting, business, and systems operations.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and experience documenting business processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Masters or MBA.
  • 3-4 years of auditing experience in Higher Education and/or Government.
  • Experience with TeamMate Auditing Solutions.
