About the position

The Senior Auditor (CIA or CPA) or Staff Auditor position at Oregon State University is a full-time role within the Office of Audit, Risk and Compliance. The primary goal is to lead and perform independent audits and special projects to enhance the university's operational efficiency and compliance. The position may be filled at either the Senior Auditor or Staff Auditor level, depending on the qualifications of the candidate. Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform independent audits and special projects/investigations in accordance with professional standards.
  • Conduct research and interviews to understand current practices and identify potential risks.
  • Prepare audit plans and objectives for review and approval.
  • Lead entrance and exit conferences with management to discuss audit scope and findings.
  • Complete detailed audit procedures and working papers, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Utilize data analytics software in audit procedures.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and document findings and recommendations.
  • Manage co-sourced internal audit engagements with external vendors.
  • Foster professional relationships with university management and staff.
  • Provide training and consultation on internal controls and mitigation strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in financial accounting principles and techniques.
  • Ability to apply generally accepted auditing standards and IIA Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, and data analytics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multiple professional auditing or accounting certifications beyond CIA or CPA.
