About the position

The Office of Audit, Risk and Compliance at Oregon State University is seeking a Senior Auditor (CIA or CPA) for a full-time, 12-month professional faculty position. The role involves leading and performing independent audits and special projects to enhance the university's operational efficiency and compliance with standards. The Senior Auditor will work closely with university management, supervise audit staff, and contribute to the university's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform independent reviews and evaluations for assigned audits and special projects/investigations.
• Conduct research and interviews to understand current practices and identify potential risks.
• Prepare audit plans, programs, and objectives for review and approval.
• Lead entrance and exit conferences with management to discuss audit scope and findings.
• Complete detailed audit procedures and working papers in accordance with professional standards.
• Utilize data analytics software in audit procedures.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and document audit conclusions and recommendations.
• Manage co-sourced internal audit engagements with external vendors.
• Foster professional relationships with university management and staff.
• Support diversity, equity, and inclusion goals in all audit activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field from an accredited institution.
• Proficiency in financial accounting principles and techniques.
• Ability to apply generally accepted auditing standards and IIA Global Internal Audit Standards.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with diverse audiences.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as outlined in OSU's Diversity Action Plan.
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Proficiency in computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, and data analytics.

Nice-to-haves

• Multiple professional auditing or accounting certifications beyond CIA or CPA.
