About the position

The Senior Automation and Operational Technology Engineer role focuses on providing support for PLC-based control systems and digital solutions in a manufacturing environment. This position involves maintenance activities, lifecycle management, and ensuring compliance with IT programs and regulatory standards. The engineer will collaborate with Site Engineers and IT professionals to enhance operational performance and contribute to the site's digital strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a technical resource to support and deliver digital and Controls Automation solutions to resolve manufacturing issues and improve operational performance.
  • Leads troubleshooting, problem solving, and root cause analysis to effectively resolve issues and deliver sustainable solutions.
  • Provides operational support, ensuring production systems and devices are online and available.
  • Interfaces with and oversees vendors for discussion, consultation, problem solving, and upgrades.
  • Supports large scale and leads smaller scale projects.
  • Gathers and analyzes system performance information to identify, design, and implement process improvements.
  • Key member for the digital transformation at the site, interfacing between central PH PS Digital Community activities and the site/function.
  • Supports the development and execution of the Site's Digital Roadmap and identifies required resources for Roadmap execution.
  • Provides input and commentary to the development and revision of procedures and policies relevant to the Cyber Security Program.
  • Maintains compliance to Cyber Security Program implementing procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent discipline OR 4 - 7 years combined experience with relevant technology.
  • Experience with manufacturing process control systems, supporting applications, infrastructure, and ongoing process improvement efforts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience with electrical and controls systems.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes, electrical systems, control systems, equipment, and machinery.
  • Knowledge of good change management and software validation systems in a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of PLC and HMI programming.
  • Strategic thinker with an understanding of business value drivers and eagerness to drive change.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong, effective team relationships across multiple organizational levels.
  • Effective communication of technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Experience across operations, engineering, and IT areas.
  • Ability to support cyber security activities such as system hardening, patch management, and configuration management.
