About the position

The Senior Automation Engineer is responsible for the creation, development, and deployment of advanced technology strategies for manufacturing process automation at Owens Corning. This role focuses on driving sustainable solutions to transform manufacturing processes, collaborating with IT departments to establish reliable IT/OT system architectures, and representing the company in industry forums to influence standards and trends. The position emphasizes innovation, project management, and the application of mechatronic solutions to enhance production efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the positioning of products in the marketplace and industry automation trends.
  • Engage in project planning to identify automation opportunities and deliver strategic objectives.
  • Establish examples of robotics and automation solutions for scaling in operations.
  • Introduce and improve automation solutions in production lines using technology.
  • Provide technology support for the automation portfolio and collaborate across departments.
  • Apply mechatronic solutions for material transfer and project management skills for successful outcomes.
  • Leverage Open Innovation and Lean Startup methodologies for competitive advantage.
  • Collaborate on Lean Startup and TPM methodologies to foster rapid innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in automation technology development and deployment.
  • Deep understanding of sensors, robotics, IT/OT systems, and controls for automated systems.
  • Proficiency with process integration and mechatronic systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in science or engineering.
  • Strong background in process development or product innovation.
  • Technical experience in manufacturing or deploying automation technologies.
  • Experience with flexible and modular automation systems.
  • Proficiency in Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC programming.
