About the position

The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of process automation engineering and system integration, including initial concepts, specifications, design engineering, documentation, project implementation, testing, startup, and training of operating and maintenance personnel. This role is crucial in developing solutions for complex automation challenges faced by clients, requiring a blend of technical expertise and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or work on a project team responsible for the design, configuration, and testing of continuous and batch control applications.
  • Understand the project scope and financials, and exercise good time management skills to plan and coordinate the work as part of a project team by developing project schedules and budgets.
  • Anticipate and provide solutions to project leadership and/or customers, prioritizing customer satisfaction and offering strong technical expertise.
  • Adapt to a flexible work schedule and travel, if necessary, to participate in the design, development, and start-up of control systems at the client's facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent educational background.
  • 5+ years of industry hands-on experience executing automation projects for process plants, preferably in CPG / Life Sciences / Food & Beverage / Chemical domains.
  • Understanding of batch and continuous process control strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop process control system applications utilizing PLC, HMI, and SCADA Systems.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented software development and delivery methodologies.
  • Expertise with the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of virtual server-based control system architectures.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation specification, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and solving equipment and instrument-related issues during start-up and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards relevant to Instrumentation and Controls.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience programming various control systems such as GE Fanuc, Siemens, DeltaV, Honeywell DCS, GE iFix.
  • Familiarity with SSRS for reporting.
