The Automation Engineer III plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful completion of both company and client objectives at the project level. This position is primarily focused on leading the quality design, development, installation, and fulfillment of processes and systems utilized for project execution. The Automation Engineer III is responsible for overseeing the design and development of automation systems, testing and troubleshooting technical problems, and providing solutions to team members. This role requires managing technical tasks with internal team members and leading various project tasks including project kickoff, system design, procurement, programming, configuration, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and close-out documentation. In addition to these primary responsibilities, the Automation Engineer III interfaces with clients and vendors to ensure that project technical requirements are met. They are also responsible for leading overall compliance and quality of projects, ensuring that all project tasks are delivered within the allotted budget. This position contributes to project scope and budget development and provides project-level consultancy and client service. The Automation Engineer III is expected to maintain awareness of future opportunities at client facilities and inform management accordingly. Key competencies for this role include strong leadership skills, the ability to build rapport and mentor effective teams, and strong decision-making skills. The Automation Engineer III must demonstrate situational awareness and the ability to perform under pressure, as well as possess emotional intelligence to understand and manage team dynamics. Additionally, they should have a functional understanding of business and financial acumen, high-level conflict resolution skills, and the ability to analyze and evaluate work processes to maintain successful project delivery. Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills are also essential for this role.
