About the position

At Relativity Space, we are on a mission to revolutionize the aerospace industry and pave the way for humanity's future on Mars. As a leader in the Avionics Hardware team, you will play a crucial role in the development of custom electronics for our Terran R rocket. This position involves managing a team of electrical engineers through the entire product lifecycle, from design and board bring-up to design verification, qualification, initial flight production, integration, and vehicle operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the best decisions are made for the overall vehicle, leveraging your deep technical background in electronics design to guide and mentor your team. The Avionics team is responsible for the full lifecycle of all electronics and supporting hardware that are essential for operating our rockets. This includes designing, building, testing, integrating, and operating the hardware that controls the rocket in flight, downlinks critical telemetry, ensures public safety, and deploys customer payloads to orbit. As a member of this team, you will be tasked with creating innovative hardware solutions that can withstand the harsh conditions of launch and space environments. Your designs will support various vehicle systems, including sensors, propulsion, computing, actuation, energy management, and communications. This role is not just about technical expertise; it is also about leadership and fostering a collaborative environment where engineers can thrive. You will be expected to coach individual engineers in both technical and non-technical best practices, ensuring that the team adheres to rigorous engineering processes and develops integrated electronics solutions that meet the high standards required for mission-critical applications. Your contributions will directly impact the success of our rockets and the future of space exploration.
