About the position

SAIC is seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Computing Engineer for the Cloud One program under the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center Office for Network Integration (AFLCMC/HNI). The Cloud One Common Computing Environment is an existing global, interconnected, virtualized, hybrid, and IT infrastructure hosting mission systems, applications, services, and data that will serve the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and U.S. Army (USA). Cloud One incorporates the capabilities of commercial cloud and Managed Service Providers (MSP) residing in Cloud Service Providers (CSPs). Cloud One facilitates the USAF and USA's efforts to migrate applications to a cloud environment, allowing the closure of data centers to support the Data Center Optimization Initiative (DCOI) and allowing for increased efficiencies across the entire spectrum of the USAF and USA's IT operations. This candidate will be part of a team responsible for the management, operations, support, and oversight of the Cloud One Azure environments. This position is a Hybrid position where the majority of your work will be on site in a SIPRnet facility. Our current locations are Hanscom AFB, Gunter AFB, Andrews AFB, Charleston AFB. Other locations may be considered if candidate has current access to utilize. The role involves designing, planning, and integrating cloud computing and virtualization systems, identifying and implementing tools and services for efficient cloud-based solutions, and maintaining subject matter expertise in Azure industry standards. The candidate will also be responsible for advising the team lead on operational requirements, working within the Agile Framework, and troubleshooting complex infrastructure problems. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational inefficiencies and ensuring the reliability and performance of cloud services.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and integrate cloud computing and virtualization systems.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement tools and services for efficient cloud-based solutions.
  • Develop and conduct testing of cloud and virtualization systems.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in Azure industry standards and related technologies.
  • Advise and assist the team lead to forecast, develop, and prioritize roadmap items.
  • Work within the Agile Framework to meet operational and scheduling objectives.
  • Research and evaluate technical capabilities and new security tools against operational requirements.
  • Identify and develop technical solutions to complex problems with minimal oversight.
  • Work independently or as part of a team in a virtualized Azure cloud environment.
  • Assist team members in utilizing automated configuration management tools.
  • Employ security, automation, and orchestration for continuous integration and delivery.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure problems and resolve large-scale production issues.
  • Proactively identify and resolve operational, tooling, and process inefficiencies.
  • Maintain regular contact with customers during incident resolution.

Requirements

  • Interim Secret clearance required to start; ability to obtain a Secret clearance required to maintain employment.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Security+ Certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience, or Master's degree and three (3) years of experience, or additional years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Expert understanding of deployments of various systems and services to Azure cloud environments.
  • Expert knowledge of Azure services including Azure Active Directory, Azure Automation, Azure Functions, and more.
  • Expertise in CI/CD and streamlined DevOps workflows such as Azure Pipelines/TFS, GitLab.
  • Expertise with scripting using Windows PowerShell, Shell scripts, Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Experience with DevSecOps, Agile, Scrum, SAFe or other modern software development methods.
