About the position

The Senior Azure Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the security of cloud-based applications within a highly regulated banking environment. This position combines hands-on technical leadership with mentoring responsibilities, ensuring that security best practices are integrated throughout the application development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Azure cloud environments and will work closely with development teams to drive secure coding practices and compliance with industry regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Work day-to-day with developers and DevOps teams to integrate security into the application lifecycle.
  • Lead the development and implementation of secure coding and development practices.
  • Provide deep technical guidance on Azure cloud security, including IAM, encryption, and network security.
  • Act as a player-coach by mentoring junior security engineers and developers.
  • Ensure all application development meets banking industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate security risks throughout the application development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security is built into cloud solutions.
  • Champion the use of automation in security testing and DevSecOps practices.
  • Develop response protocols for application security incidents and manage incident resolution.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging security threats and regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in systems design, management, and/or architecture.
  • Thorough understanding of the system development and infrastructure lifecycle.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years' professional experience in a technical engineering position.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into structured implementations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop alternative solutions to complex problems.
  • Advanced technical, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with threat modeling and secure code reviews.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as FFIEC, NIST, GDPR, SOX.
