About the position

The Senior Cloud Engineer at Excella is responsible for building efficient, resilient, secure, and stable cloud infrastructure. This role emphasizes operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization, aligning with the Azure Well-Architected Framework. The ideal candidate will have a DevOps mindset and experience in continuous delivery, automation, and cloud migration and modernization.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing infrastructure and operations procedures as code, checked into source control and deployed via an automated pipeline.
  • Helping clients translate their applications and services into the cloud for the first time.
  • Implementing patterns to optimize and re-architect legacy applications into micro-service and/or serverless architectures.
  • Guiding clients in leveraging the strengths of their on-premise and cloud environments for maximum impact and value.
  • Crafting reliable and effective automated test suites that enable confident delivery and prevent defects in the delivery cycle.
  • Implementing solutions involving the principle of least privilege and applying security at all layers of the infrastructure.
  • Creating and designing solutions to monitor, alert, and audit actions and changes in real-time.
  • Establishing infrastructure tools and patterns that can be repeated and automated.
  • Deploying new infrastructure and code to production or end users on demand.

Requirements

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, Azure Bicep, Azure ARM templates, or Azure CLI/SDKs.
  • Utilization of PowerShell, bash, and similar technology to configure and debug modern operating systems.
  • Strong experience working with Azure core services such as IAM, Azure AD, Compute, Networking, Storage, and Databases.
  • Experience with Azure Data services such as Analysis Services, Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Azure ML/AI offerings.
  • Experience designing cloud solutions in a federal validated environment such as FedRamp, FISMA, or HIPAA.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as C#/.NET, Python, Ruby, Go, or Node.js.
  • Experience with containerization and container orchestration using tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with policy, compliance, and security automation.
  • Understanding of DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) and its capabilities.
