About the position
We are seeking a product-driven software engineer to join our team in developing a new software product for the maritime transport industry. The Wayfinder product operates on the largest shipping vessels globally, providing essential decision-making support for sea captains. This role involves understanding customer workflows and data, collaborating with a skilled team of engineers, ocean scientists, and product designers to create high-quality software that enhances user efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers, ocean scientists, and product designers to understand user needs.
- Develop and maintain frontend and backend components of the Wayfinder product.
- Design and build high-availability HTTP APIs and backend services.
- Participate in code reviews and design sessions to mentor junior engineers.
- Translate user requirements into functional software solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Significant experience with modern Typescript, Node.js, and AWS.
- Experience designing and building high-availability HTTP APIs and backend services.
- Knowledge of CDNs, authentication, and authorization protocols.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with React for frontend development.
- Familiarity with Express, Postgres, and Nest.js.
- Experience with data processing services written in Python.
Benefits
- Competitive salary range of $165,000 - $180,000.
