About The Position

Point is looking for a founding senior backend engineer to help build a modern and aspirational banking experience by bringing rewards and benefits to the everyday debit card. This role involves working alongside a lean and highly-talented team, including one of the co-founders who designed the interface of the first iPhone. The team has successfully launched and scaled to millions of dollars in transactional volume with just 2.5 engineers. The environment is collaborative and transparent, allowing for significant impact across the company, from new product features to internal tools and marketing ideas. Point is well-funded and supported by top investors, including those behind companies like Airbnb, Stripe, and Notion.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a backend engineer, with at least 2 years using Node.js, AWS, PostgresQL, and GraphQL.
• Experience working at a small startup that has gone from 0 to 1 and understanding how to scale backend systems.
• Ability to balance moving quickly and cautiously by testing software before shipping, ensuring reliability and security.
• Experience in a senior engineer role while still being excited about contributing to the codebase.
• A passion for building consumer products with thoughtful and intuitive design across the stack.

Responsibilities

• Ensure integrations with key vendors are stable and reliable, including card issuer, card printer, identity verification vendors, and Plaid.
• Build the backend logic that powers new features such as instant bank transfers and custom rewards.
• Develop scalable infrastructure that can handle large amounts of data with low latency.
