The Senior Backend Software Engineer position is part of a team that integrates both organic and ads features, helping businesses, from small and medium enterprises to large corporations, to enhance their global influence and drive hyper-growth. This team empowers users to form communities and communicate effectively, while also improving advertising efficiency by enhancing business users' workflows on TikTok. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and continuously improving the experiences of business users on the platform. The ideal candidate will be excited to grow their understanding of Digital Marketing Management and build highly scalable and reliable software while collaborating across disciplines and geographies. The position requires strong software engineering skills and a commitment to creating a joyful experience for TikTok users.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and continuously improve business users' experiences on TikTok.
• Manage the work of a focused team of software engineers, providing guidance, regular feedback, education, and mentoring.
• Take responsibility for the team project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Define a long-term technical roadmap and contribute to technical decisions on your team.
• Collaborate with PM and R&D teams globally, in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, software design) and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to think critically and to formulate solutions in a clear and concise way.
• Very strong teamwork skills (e.g. communication, ownership, empathy, honesty).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Digital Marketing Management, Instant Messaging systems, Advertisement Technology, or Digital Content Creation is a plus, but not required.
• Experience with consumer-user-facing products is a plus, but not required.
